Blake Lively has landed the female lead role in Green Lantern as Carol Ferris opposite Ryan Reynolds in Warner Bros.’ live-action film based on the DC Comics hero.

Green Lantern was hatched in 1940. Hal Jordan, a second-generation test pilot, is an ordinary man who has been charged with defending a sector of the universe with a mystical green ring. His love interest Carol Ferris is a pilot and administrator in civilian life.

The studio and Campbell tapped Reynolds for title role in July, following his performances in The Proposal and as Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, a performance that prompted Fox to begin development on a spinoff film.

Lively’s currently seen on Gossip Girl and in indie drama The Private Lives of Pippa Lee. She’s in Warners’ upcoming crime drama The Town opposite Ben Affleck. Credits include Accepted and the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants titles.
