Best Dressed & GG Set

Anna Wintour really loves Blake Lively. Months after hitting Paris’ top fashion shows with the famed editor-in-chief, Lively has landed the cover of Vogue’s “Best Dressed” special-edition issue. The Gossip Girl star shares the honor with many other lovely ladies, including Michelle Obama, Angelina Jolie and rumored future covergirl Lady Gaga.

Lively’s cover came as a surprise to some fashion fans: She’s previously landed on her fair share of “worst dressed” lists, most recently for a kooky look that had her button-down shirt peeking out beneath the hem of a metallic high-waisted skirt. But for all her occasional missteps, Blake has had some fantastic red carpet home runs—all without the aid of a professional stylist.

Blake was snapped on se of Gossip Girl again yesterday…

Blake on Marie Claire Cover

Move over, Leighton Meester! Blake Lively has a new BFF on the Upper East Side: Anna Wintour, the notorious Vogue editor-in-chief who reportedly inspired the roman à clef The Devil Wears Prada!

The 23-year-old Gossip Girl actress has appeared on the fashion mag’s cover twice in two years — opens up about her new friendship with the famed fashion editor in the October issue of Marie Claire UK.

“I was speaking with Anna Wintour and we were just talking about different fashion houses and I said, ‘I love Chanel,’ and she said, ‘You should come with me to the show,'” Lively recalls. “I also said I loved Dior. She said, “Okay, well I’ll take you to the Chanel and Dior shows and we’ll meet with Karl [Lagerfeld] and John [Galliano] afterwards.’ Insane!”

And Lively says she’s learned a lot from sitting front row at Paris Fashion Week with the 60-year-old editor.

“I’ve always loved fashion. That’s why I don’t use a stylist,” Lively tells the mag. “It’s such an expression of self.”

Though she’s happy to dish on her newfound friendship, Lively stays mum on her relationship with costar Penn Badgley, 23.

“At the end of the day, you’re just in any relationship. How does anybody go to work every day and come home?” she asks. “You just do it and it either works or it doesn’t.”

Blake Lively And Ben Affleck Get A Bit Flirtatious For Interview Magazine

Now we’re going to fast-forward a bit to when Ben and Blake are talking about their work on “The Town.” Apparently Ben was very impressed with Blake’s commitment to her role, so much so he talked for what seemed like half an hour about how amazing she was. A segment:

“You were by far the best, and when I asked you how you got everything down, it turned out that you had tried to work with this one dialect coach, and then tried another one, and then just started doing all of this incredibly thorough, diligent, independent research on your own-seeking out people who spoke the way your character does, seeking out people whose own life experiences you could draw upon. How did you get to the point where that became your approach? Because it’s certainly nothing I ever did at any point in my twenties.”

But it gets even worse! Blake says she is really a shy person, but she has learned she has to act confident to work in Hollywood. This is understandable, and something we’ve heard before from other actresses, and Ben could have maybe followed it up by saying he was able to relate to that sentiment. But no, he goes ultra-flirtatious and says, “I wouldn’t really describe you as shy. That hasn’t been my experience of you.” Her response? “Well, I had to be bold with you!”

AFFLECK: Well, that was the last question. I didn’t get to some others I wanted to ask you, like, “Which day did you find yourself most impressed by me?”

LIVELY: Or am I happy that you don’t wear cashmere turtlenecks anymore.

AFFLECK: Oh, Jesus Christ. I don’t know what pictures you’re looking at. How about: Would you work with me again? When your price is too expensive, can I hire you for scale? I want you to say it now so it’s in a magazine.

LIVELY: Oh, gosh. You’re so tacky! I told you already that I’d never work with you again. Jason Bourne maybe.

AFFLECK: Do you remember when you and I had worked together for months and we were wandering around in Boston and at one point I just randomly pointed to a place and said, “Matt Damon lived there.” And you turned to me and were like, “What? You know Jason Bourne?” [Lively laughs]

LIVELY: Of course I’ll work with you again.

AFFLECK: I’m going to introduce you to Jason Bourne so that you’ll be grateful.

LIVELY: I’m already grateful.

AFFLECK: Now stop trolling the Internet looking for pictures of me and critiquing my wardrobe. Before I went to do this interview somebody said, “Blake is a fashion darling.” All of us can’t be fashion darlings, Blake.

LIVELY: Well, people like you make me fashionable, because if there is no wrong there can be no right.

AFFLECK: You’ve gotten so much more bitchy since we wrapped the film.

LIVELY: But I think you have to say that I’m charming at the end of the interview. I think that’s the rule.

AFFLECK: You’re very charming.

Blake in Interview!

Serena van der Woodsen: beautiful, glamorous, elegant young woman about town; fashionable and firm but fair ruler of Manhattan’s young social elite; wooer of hearts and slayer of men with names like Trip van der Bilt; tabloid magnet and off-and-on dater of her off-and-on step-brother-and nothing even remotely like Blake Lively. For three seasons, Lively-owner of the most talked-about hair in television since the heady days of the early-Friends Jennifer Aniston shag-has played van der Woodsen on the CW’s hit series Gossip Girl, guiding her through myriad breakups, scandals, falls from grace, and spirited comebacks amidst the show’s hyperreal vision of misspent youth in uptown New York. Now as the series enters its fourth season, the plot for Serena has begun to further thicken. Will she return from her summer vacation in Paris as a new woman, or out to settle old scores? Will she get back together with Dan? Will Nate come calling once again? What will she wear? But just as the arc of Serena’s sordid life on Gossip Girl has brought about new priorities, changes, and directions, so too has the trajectory of Lively’s career away from the show signaled a shift in direction for the 23-year-old actress.

Esquire – February 2010 Scans

We now have scans from Blake’s feature in Esquire thanks to the fine folks over at Celebutopia!

Esquire – February 2010!

Blake Lively takes her first cover of 2010 on Esquire! She looks incredible, can’t wait to see the full shoot.

Turns out, playing a Manhattan socialite is easy. At least, it is for Blake Lively.

The blond beauty, who plays the wealthy Serena van der Woodsen on the hit series Gossip Girl, says that slipping into character is a cinch for her.

“I can snap into Serena very easily. The way I dress as Serena is pretty much the way I dress as me. I’m living in New York City, shooting in New York City,” she tells the February issue of Esquire magazine. “I’m in a comfort zone.”

But these days, Lively is trying to leave that comfort zone behind.

Her upcoming big screen flick, The Town, which co-stars Ben Affleck, features Lively as a poor woman from the wrong side of the tracks, who even gets assaulted in one scene.

Cosmopolitan – September 2008

Thanks to a starring role on the addictive Gossip Girl, a new movie, and a high-profile romance, she’s Hollywood’s proverbial It Girl. One more thing: You know you love her.

Blake Lively is starving. She slides into a booth at a charming restaurant in New York City’s West Village and immediately buries her head in the menu. “Let’s share a bunch of stuff,” she says, then adds, “On average, I order about three meals for myself in one sitting.” She isn’t kidding. Two bread baskets, two appetizers, two pasta entrées, and three desserts later, she decides that’s enough food…to start with.

But there’s good reason for Blake’s ravenous appetite. As one of the breakout stars of television’s most buzzed-about show, Gossip Girl, she’s spent the last several months working 18-hour days. And that’s in addition to promoting her new flick, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2, in which she plays a college student coming to terms with her mother’s death. Though she looks every bit the chosen Hollywood starlet (she’s dressed in skinny jeans, black ballet flats, and a leather bomber jacket), she hardly acts it. “I don’t drink. I don’t do drugs. But I do sleep around a lot,” she deadpans, before busting into laughter.

The fact is, her own high school experience in Burbank, California, was a far cry from her character’s ultraprivileged existence. While Serena van der Woodsen spends her time sipping champagne at the Palace Hotel dressed in designer clothes, Blake, now 21, was more of a gung-ho overachiever. “I was class president, on the cheerleading squad, in a competitive show choir, and in, like, six different clubs,” she says. She even sported a bulldog costume to act as mascot for some football games. That up-for-anything attitude is what helped her break into acting. She got her first gig (in the original Sisterhood movie) because her brother, also an actor, thought she would like performing and asked his agent to send her on a couple auditions.

On being nothing like her on-screen persona Serena van der Woodsen: “I was class president, on the cheerleading squad, in a competitive show choir, and in, like, six different clubs.”

On what she sees in a boyfriend: “I don’t want to date someone just to date someone. I want to be with a guy who’s going to be better my quality of life, better me.”

On kissing and telling: “I’ve kissed just three people, other than stuff I’ve done for TV or movies. I know — I’m weird.”

On her steady relationship with costar Penn Badgley: “I hope Brad Pitt doesn’t hear this. He’s never going to want to marry me.”

Seventeen – August 2008

Blake Lively is the cover girl on Seventeen’s August issue, witch hits newsstands on Tuesday, July 8th. The interview and the shoot is all new and I can’t wait to get my hand on scans and outtakes that I can share with you guys, if anyone wants to contribute you can email me at fansitesdotcom [at] gmail.com.

On her real-life high school compared to Gossip Girl: “Oh, my goodness, my real-life high school experience could not be more different than Gossip Girl. Burbank feels like a small town in the big city of L.A. So for a fun night out, we would go to school fund-raisers. I was very involved in school – I was class president! And all of my friends were good – nobody was too wild. The kids on Gossip Girl enjoy getting a great education, but they couldn’t care less about school itself. But I think at the core, everyone deals with similar things in high school: jealousy, people making up rumors, dating someone you shouldn’t, or wanting to be with someone who’s unattainable.”

On her most awkward moment on Gossip Girl: “Chace and I had to do that scene in the first episode when I’m sitting on his lap on the barstool. Then they call, ‘Cut!’ and I just have to sit on the lap of this guy I met two weeks before! And I’m like, ‘So, you want to get some pizza tonight or something?’ What do you even talk about?!? It’s not as romantic as people think it is.”

On playing Guitar Hero: “I play in tournaments in Brooklyn. I’ll cover myself in sailor tattoos and dress like a rock star. Everyone else dresses totally normally and must think I’m a complete freak!”

On being compared to a hotel heiress: “I once heard someone say that I’m similar to Paris Hilton – since I have a dog and blonde hair, that must mean we’re alike. “It’s a dumb thing to say. I dont think that makes Paris and me similar … I don’t go to clubs, I don’t party, I don’t dance on tables, and I don’t like sex tapes.”

On her relationship with her on-and-off-screen boyfriend and how actors fall for each other: “Penn [Badgley]does these silly dance moves, and he’s very witty and quick, so it’s fun to have sharp banter with him… When you’re saying these words [from the script] that people are making you say to one another, nothing about it is real or genuine. So if two people connect outside their characters, then that’s how they get together.”

On being passionate: “When I care about somebody, whether it’s my best friend or somebody who I would date, I give them all of my heart. I’ve just been so loved, and I’m used to really loving people and trusting them.”

Vanity Fair – August 2008 – “Hollywood’s Next Wave”
